FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does ScrubMyCase do?

You upload a legal document and answer three quick questions (what it is, your role, your state). Our AI reads every page and gives you a plain-English, color-coded report of every contradiction, timeline gap, missing fact, and red flag — plus the legal concepts that may apply.

Is this legal advice?

No. ScrubMyCase is a document-analysis tool. It points out what's in (or missing from) your document so you can make better decisions and have a sharper conversation with a licensed attorney. It never represents you or tells you what to do legally.

Is my document private?

Yes — and that's the point. Your file is processed to generate your report and then deleted. We don't train AI on your documents and we don't sell your data. There's nothing for anyone to subpoena later because we don't keep it.

Will it make up fake laws or cases?

No. Our AI names legal concepts only — it's forbidden from writing citations. A separate fact-check agent then grounds each concept against real public legal sources (the official US Code, the federal regulations/eCFR, and the CourtListener case-law database) and links you to the source. Anything it can't confirm is shown as a general concept with a search link — never an invented citation, and a final filter strips any stray fake citation from the text.

How much does it cost?

You can run a free preview that shows how many issues we found. A full report is $29. Long or high-stakes documents can use the $49 Deep Scrub, and frequent users have $39/mo and $149/mo plans.

What kinds of documents can I scrub?

Divorce and custody papers, police reports, depositions, affidavits, witness statements, insurance claims and denials, contracts, medical records for claims, and court motions and filings.

Do I have to subscribe?

No. Most people just buy a single $29 report. Subscriptions are only for people reviewing documents regularly, like paralegals and PIs.

What's the difference between Single and Deep Scrub?

Single Scrub ($29) is a full report on a normal-length document. Deep Scrub ($49) is for long files (100+ pages) like depositions and full divorce sets, with page-cited contradictions and an expanded law section.

Can I get a refund?

If the report didn't work or came back empty due to an error on our end, contact us and we'll make it right.

Is it safe to upload divorce documents to ChatGPT?

Be careful. Lawyers warn that pasting legal documents into general chatbots can waive privacy protections, may be discoverable, and the chatbot can invent fake case law. ScrubMyCase deletes your document after processing, never trains on it, and is built specifically not to fabricate citations.

Why not just use a free chatbot?

General chatbots aren't built for this. They don't tailor the analysis to your document type, they're prone to inventing legal-sounding nonsense, and they may retain what you paste. ScrubMyCase is purpose-built for legal documents with privacy and anti-hallucination guardrails.

Does ChatGPT really make up cases?

Yes. There have been hundreds of documented instances of AI-fabricated citations in real court filings, with sanctions and fines. ScrubMyCase only describes well-established legal concepts and points to what's actually in your document.
